Everything You Need to Know About Palm Oil Refinery Process
The refining process of palm oil includes the following: Bleaching. Deodorisation. Fractionation. The crude oil is refined using two methods, including physical refining and chemical refining, during which FFA is removed to ensure that the FFA content is not more than 0.1 %. It is essential to note that physical refining is environment-friendly
Full size table. Ghana was ranked as the 13th largest producer of crude palm oil in the world in 2018, producing 375,000 metric tonnes of palm oil on a cultivated area of over 360,00 ha. Production of oil in Ghana peaked in 2011 when it produced about 448,000 metric tonnes of palm oil.
POSCO INTERNATIONAL’s Palm Business, Growing as a Core Business after
The two companies invested USD 210 million to build a palm oil refinery in Kalimantan Timur, Indonesia, and plan to produce 500,000 tons of refined oil annually from 2025. Beyond refining, the two companies are also exploring the production opportunity of eco-friendly biofuel, such as sustainable aviation fuel.

The oil palm tree is an ancient tropical plant that originated from West Africa. Palm oil has centuries׳ long use as food and medicine. This review covers the recent significant materials found in the literature on palm oil processing, refining, and use in frying especially in blends with other vegetable oils.
Making the Palm Oil Industry Greener, The Chemical Engineer
Palm oil in Malaysia. Introduced to Malaya (now Malaysia) as a commercial plant in 1917, the nation’s palm oil industry has grown from humble beginnings to become the world’s second-largest palm oil producer (behind Indonesia), exporting around 30% of the world’s supply. About 40% of Malaysia’s palm oil output is produced by smallholders.
Deodorisation is the key process to produce high‐quality refined, bleached and deodorised palm oil (RBDPO) in a palm oil refinery. In this work, an integrated simulation–optimisation approach
Palm Oil, Our World in Data
Palm oil production has increased rapidly since the 1960s. Between 1970 and 2020, the world’s production of palm oil increased by about 40 times. Global production went from only 2 million tonnes to around 80 million tonnes. The change in global production is shown in the chart. 3.
Palm oil has the highest productivity per unit area of any vegetable oil, which is 10 times higher than soybean oil and 7 times higher than sunflower oil. Additionally, the strengths of this crop are recognized by experts due to its ability to be harvested for over 20 years once planted, as well as being environmentally friendly by using less land and water compared to other plantations.
