The crude coconut oil is first pumped to the COT-1 from the storage tank and oil is heated up to 60 – 700 C by means of the live steam provided in to the Neutralizer, the required quantity of acid is dosed with water and allow this to react for 30 mins and after that raise the temperature to 70 degrees centigrade the required amount of caustic is added to neutralize the free fatty acid.
Refinement is usually used to remove undesired components to improve coconut oil quality. In the present study, crude coconut oil (CCO) was refined in four stages: conventional degumming, neutralization, bleaching, and deodorization. Physiochemical indices during the refinement were evaluated: peroxide value (PV), free fatty acid (FFA), fatty
Physical Refining of Coconut Oil: Effect of Crude Oil Quality

Refining process. Crude corn oil was refined by simultaneous degumming and deacidification in one step. Crude corn oil-hexane miscella with 30 g/100g to 80 g/100g was heated to a certain temperature (30 °C–70 °C) in a three-neck round bottom flask and mixed using a magnetic stirrer at the stirring speed of 150, 250 and 350 rpm.
Physical refining of coconut oil: Effect of crude oil quality
The distillation of volatile glyceridic components (monoand diglycerides), originally present in the crude oil, was confirmed as the major cause for the neutral oil loss. The amount of these volatile components in crude coconut oils cannot be derived as such from the initial free fatty acid content.

Corn Oil: Composition, Processing, and Utilization
Crude corn oil usually contains about 3% FFA and phosphorus content in the range from 300 to 1000 mg/kg. It also contains pigments, such as xanthophylls and carotenes, as well as waxes and insoluble components. This oil may also contain oxidation products, mycotoxins, and residues of pesticides and insecticides.
Total volatiles of canola oil decreased gradually during refining, however corn oil had significant increases at bleaching step. 3-MCPD ester contents were between 0.19-0.26 mg kg-1 for corn and 0
Physical refining of coconut oil: Effect of crude oil quality
In the present study, neutral oil loss (distillative and mechanical carry-over) during physical refining of coconut oil was quantified. Neutral oil loss seems to depend on both the crude oil quality and the process conditions during deodorization. The distillation of volatile glyceridic components (monoand diglycerides), originally present in the crude oil, was confirmed as the major cause for
