Cold pressed coconut oil is an edible oil that is extracted from raw and mature coconut. Coconut oil can be found in as liquid or cream forms depending on the temperature of the environment. If the temperature is higher than 24 degrees, it will appear as a clear liquid, but in a colder environment it will turn into solid, opaque and white form.
The coconut meat is grated in a mechanical machine, to make it easier to press the coconut oil out. The grated coconut meat is then pressed through a mechanical press that is also operated by hand. To qualify as cold-pressed virgin coconut oil, the pressing happens in a carefully controlled heat environment, not exceeding 49° C / 120° F.
