Twin-screw extrusion technology for vegetable oil extraction: A review

The design consists of a pilot-scale partially intermeshing, counter-rotating twin-screw extruder-press with a barrel composed of vertical, parallel plates varying in diameter. The twin-screw press operated at a feeding rate of 50–58 kg/h and attained a high oil recovery of 94% for dehulled sunflower seeds.

Show plans. Mtwara. The government has decided put emphasis on the cultivation of large scale farming to among other things, meet the demand of edible oil in the country. Presenting the budget of the ministry of Agriculture for the year 2022/23, Agriculture minister Hussein Bashe said the demand for edible oil in the country stood at 650,000

Advances in Extrusion Technology and Its Applicability to Food Processing in Developing Nations | SpringerLink

In the last decades, research study into food extrusion technology and agro-food industry has been widely investigated (Zardetto and Rosa 2009; Sobowale et al. 2017).According to Berk (), extrusion is derived from the Latin word “extrudere” which literarily means the action of pushing out.

Conclusions. Twin-screw extrusion technology exhibits promising perspectives in the field of vegetable oil extraction, especially when integrating several extraction stages in a single extruder passage. However, extensive additional research is crucial in order to further develop these processes and assess their industrial feasibility.

High moisture extrusion cooking of meat analogs: A review of mechanisms of protein texturization, Schmid, 2022, Comprehensive Reviews in Food

Extrusion technology can be classified into low-moisture extrusion cooking (LMEC; 10%–40% [w/w] water) and high-moisture extrusion cooking (HMEC; up to 70% [w/w] water). LMEC is reportedly a reliable method for production of textured vegetable proteins (TVPs), which are dry, expanded products that need to be rehydrated before consumption (Malav et al., 2015 ).
