Tanzania: Tiper's Shift From Refinery to Storage Facility
Tanzania Daily News (Dar es Salaam) IT'S now 20 years since the Tanzania International Petroleum Reserves Limited (TIPER) changed its operations from being crude oil refinery to petroleum products
Scheduling of crude oil operations is a critical and complicated component of overall refinery operations, because crude oil costs account for about 80% of the refinery turnover. Moreover, blending with less expensive crudes can significantly increase profit margins.
Feasibility Study for the Edible Oils Sector in Tanzania
5 Sunflower oil provides the strongest opportunity to expand domestic edible oils production, and has potential for high-value exports Notes:*Consumption is used as a proxy for demand, and estimated as production + imports –exports; Estimated values based on extrapolation of 2009-13
A year later, Karuppiah et al. ( 2008) introduced a non-convex mixed integer nonlinear model (MINLP) for the scheduling of crude oil movement at the front-end of a refinery, i.e. the supply stream, the tanks and the CDUs. The model applies continuous time representation making use of transfer events.
Tanzania, Construction Begins on East African Oil Pipeline
The government of Tanzania has announced that construction on the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), a project that runs for 1,445 km connecting the Hoima refinery in Uganda to the Tanga port in Tanzania becoming the longest heated crude oil pipeline in the world, has begun. The launch of the construction site was announced at a press
In this work, we introduce a cutting-edge model for scheduling the complex and integrated process of crude oil reception, blending, delivery through a pipeline, and processing at a refinery. Our continuous-time model, formulated as a MINLP problem, extends the concept of multi-operation sequencing to include the pipeline operations.
2.2: The process of crude oil refining, Engineering LibreTexts
The first process is known as distillation. In this process, crude oil is heated and fed into a distillation column. A schematic of the distillation column is shown in Figure 2.2 F i g u r e 2.2. As the temperature of the crude oil in the distillation column rises, the crude oil separates itself into different components, called “fractions.”.
This paper addresses the problem of crude-oil short-term scheduling, which is the first part of the overall refining operations. The problem involves the optimal operation of crude-oil unloading from vessels, its transfer to storage tanks, and the charging schedule for each crude-oil mixture to the distillation units. A novel model is developed based on a continuous-time representation
Emission and exposure of hydrogen sulfide in the air from oil
Little is known regarding the amount of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) emitted during refinery process under different management systems. Therefore, two refinery fields were investigated to explain their H2S emission, as they were managed using non-standardized and standardized protocols. In addition, three units of standardized refinery were investigated to correlate the amount of emitted H2S with
Refineries are increasingly concerned with improving the scheduling of their operations to achieve better economic performances by minimizing quality, quantity, and logistics give away. In this article, we present a comprehensive integrated optimization model based on continuous-time formulation for the scheduling problem of production units and end-product blending problem. The model
