Cameroon’s EITI (Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative) Committee reported that, petroleum production was 25.61 million barrels in 2021, a slight decrease of 3.56% compared to 2020, explained by the aging of the fields and the weak takeoff in oil activity. The production of marketable gas for the year 2021 amounted to 76,712,402
When we consider the real capacities of processing plants, the gap is indeed way wider,” explained Emmanuel Koulou Ada, Head of the Oilseed Sector Regulatory Committee, in 2018. According to the ASROC, the yearly crude palm oil demand from industrial
Cameroon plans to build its 2nd oil refinery in Kribi
For that purpose, in its 2020-2030 national development strategy, the government introduced a "viable project for the construction of a new and large refinery in Kribi." According to Business Cameroon, SORAC, which is controlled by businessman Nassourou Alhadji Issa aims to market 100,000 tons of refined oil yearly. According to actors in the palm oil industry, in the first half of 2023 alone, refiners imported around 150,000 tons of palm oil, equivalent to the total volume imported in 2022.

According to Emmanuel Ngom, an expert at MINADER, the 70,000 ha of industrial plantations produce about 180,000 tons of palm oil, while the 100,000 ha of village plantations produce only about 90,000 tons.
The oil industry along the Atlantic coast of Cameroon: Assessing impacts and possible solutions
Oil refining involves “cracking” where intense heat and pressure is applied to crude oil to separate and refine it into products such as gasoline and distillate fuels. In an effort to promote cleaner production, oil companies in both developed and less developed countries have formulated market-based tools like the international standards for environmental management system (ISO 14001).
Refining plants can vary in design and complexity, with atmospheric distillation being a common unit operation across refining plants (i.e., crude oil distillation unit, CDU). An example of a typical refinery process chart is shown in Fig. 2 , with typical product fractions categorized in Table 1 .
