The total amount of oil in bran samples was determined by taking 5 grams of sample and extracting with 200 ml of hexane for 8 hours in soxhlet apparatus. This was done to check lot to lot variation in oil content of bran. The total oil content in bran samples was found to be 21±0.6%.
