Molecules | Free Full-Text | Desert Endemic Plants in Algeria: A Review on Traditional Uses, Phytochemistry, Polyphenolic Compounds, MDPI
Due to their robust antioxidant capabilities, potential health benefits, wide variety of biological activities, and strong antioxidant qualities, phenolic compounds are substances that have drawn considerable attention in recent years. The main goal of the review is to draw attention to saharian Algerian medicinal plants and the determination of their bioactivity (antioxidant, anti-cancer,
CA59G3, Oil Prince, and Täby 70 presses (Table 1). At each press location, the same seed was used to conduct a controlled ex-periment. Sunflower seed (var: ‘Syngenta 3480’) was harvested in 2012 in Alburgh, VT; canola seed (var: ‘5535 CL’) was harvested
Assessment of Biochemical Composition and Antioxidant Properties of Algerian Date Palm ( Phoenix dactylifera L.) Seed Oil, MDPI
The present study evaluates the chemical compositions and antioxidative properties of a date palm derivative by-product—seed oil—from eight different date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) cultivars: Arechti, Degla-Baida, Deglet-Nour, Ghars, Haloua, Itima, Mech-Degla, and Tentbouchet, spread locally throughout the province of Biskra, Algeria (Ziban oases).
Overall, the results indicate that the seeds of O. ficus-indica growing in Algeria can be exploited as valuable sources of table oil, cooking oil, and antioxidants. In this study, the characterization of fatty acids and secondary metabolites in seeds of three cultivars of Opuntia ficus-indica L. (O. ficus-indica, yellow, orange, and green) harvested from the Souk Ahras area in Northeast
Medicinal Plants Used by Traditional Healers in Algeria: A Multiregional Ethnobotanical Study, PMC, National Center for Biotechnology Information
Traditional medicine is the cornerstone that boosts scientific research to explore new therapeutic approaches. The study aimed to assess the traditional knowledge and use of medicinal plants to treat various ailments by Algerian traditional healers. Date palm, Wikipedia
The date palm is dioecious, having separate male and female plants. They can be easily grown from seed, but only 50% of seedlings will be female and hence fruit-bearing, and dates from seedling plants are often smaller and of poorer quality. Most commercial plantations thus use cuttings of heavily cropping cultivars.
Interestingly, Bunium incrassatum Amo, Echinops spinosissimus Turra, Cucurbita moschata Duchesne, Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R.Br and Malus domestica Borkh. were reported for the first time as
