Post-secession Sudan and South Sudan: A Comparative Study of Economic Performance, Export Diversification, and Institutions, SAGE Journals
The loss of oil reserves in Sudan and the gain of oil reserves in South Sudan have serious consequences on both countries’ economies. This descriptive study has used the recent data of both countries to assess the impact of oil reserves transfer between both countries on their economic stability, export diversification, and institutions.
In comparison to earlier studies, our dataset covers also Sudan’s post-oil boom period, which coincided with a substantial drop in oil dependence after the 2011 secession of South Sudan. We find that oil rents appear to have a statistically significant and negative effect on export diversification, although contemporaneously rather than in the long-term.
Oil in South Sudan, The IGC
Oil is the lifeline of the South Sudan economy now and over the medium term. It ac-counted for about half of the country’s GDP, and most of the country’s exports (about 97 %) and government’s revenue (about 98 %) in the period 2008-2011. Oil production of
c) Mass of Oil Extracted Per Batch The oil content of coconut falls within the (18-25) % range (Ibrahim Et al, 2016); assuming an oil content of 21.5%, the mass of oil extracted is determined using equation 5. = 21.5 % Where and (5) are the mass of oil and mass of

During the forecast period of 2022–2027, the South Sudanese oil and gas market is anticipated to grow at a compound annual growth rate of almost 1.5%, rising from 134.7 thousand barrels per day in 2021 to approximately 146.7 thousand barrels per day by 2027. The GDP index for South Sudan decreased by 1.69% in 2020. 11.
Economic recovery has stalled in South Sudan amid a multitude of crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic, climate shocks and dwindling oil production, and most recently, the adverse effect of the broad-based rise in commodity prices brought on by the war in Ukraine.
Crude days ahead? OIL and the resource curse in Sudan
Production went from 305,000 barrels per day (bpd) in 2005 to 480,000 bpd by 2008, while the average price of Sudanese crude rose 42 percent on international markets. 28 Sudan is currently the third largest oil producer in sub-Saharan Africa, behind Nigeria and Angola. Nonetheless, the strength of the oil sector is fading.
For instance, some Sub-Saharan African countries are known as the weakest countries in good governance and management of oil and gas resources, like Libya, Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, with overall points of −1.85, −1.575, and −1.76 in
Design, fabrication and performance evaluation of centrifugal sunflower dehuller for small-scale enterprises in developing countries: African
Lack of effective machines for dehulling sunflower seeds has resulted in high oil losses during extraction, especially for small- and medium-scale enterprise. This paper reports on the design, fabrication and performance evaluation (in terms of throughput capacity, dehulling efficiency and kernel breakage efficiency) of a centrifugal machine for dehulling sunflower seeds.
The South Sudan government says it lost more than $4 billion to some 500 oil companies in unpaid taxes since 2011, and the government has enacted measures to recover the money. South Sudan Petroleum Minister Kang Puot Chol insists his country’s reliance on foreign manpower is hindering South Sudan’s path toward full independence.
