The import price per kilogram of Oranges into Zambia has seen a significant decrease over the last five years. In 2012, the price was $1.00, but by 2014, it had dropped to $0.08. This trend continued until 2019, when the price rose to $0.88. However, in 2020, the price dropped again to $0.54, and then further to $0.48 in 2021.

Alliance Ginneries Limited invests US$11m in construction of soybean
ZAMBIA – Alliance Ginneries Limited (AGL), a cotton ginning company operating in Southern Africa is seeking to diversify its operation by venturing into soybean oil extraction and refining. The company has commenced construction work for its new processing plant in Lusaka, Zambia to cost US$11m.
Edible oils are sourced mainly from vegetable products and in Zambia, the major oilseed used in the production of edible oils is soybeans which accounts for 60% of local production, cotton seed oil extraction accounts for 19% while sunflower oil accounts for 15%. The remaining 6% is sourced from minor oilseeds such as ground nuts.
