The hot piping from the feed-effluent exchanger, point 2, is fabricated from Type 347, 321 or 304 stainless steel. At this point, recycle and make-up hydrogen join the feed stream. The presence of hydrogen reduces the tendency for coking. Fired heater tubes (point 3) are most frequently Type 347, 321 or 304.
