Economic Analysis of Groundnut Production in Tolon
The study compared the profitability of groundnut production between Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo and West-Mamprusi districts in Northern Ghana. A Cobb -Douglas production function and gross income analysis were used in the analysis to determine the effect of “VAPAP” project on the profits of farmers in the two districts.
Result from the analysis revealed that average output of groundnut is 326.33 kg with a range of. 20 kg (min) to 2,722.50 kg (max). Meanwhile, in terms of per acre basis, the minimum and maximum output of groundnut were found to be 9.33 kg and 595 kg respectively. Mean output per acre was also noted to be 134.74 kg.
