Edible Oil Production in Egypt: An Overview

The ERC refinery in Mostorod can annually produce 2.3 million tonnes (Mt) of Euro V diesel, 600,000t of jet fuel,336,000t of naphtha, 522,000t of reformate, and 79,000t of LPG.

Egypt Oilseeds and Products Annual 2019 U.S. Soybean Exports
Sunflower Seed: FAS Cairo forecasts Egypt’s sunflower seed consumption for crush in MY 2019/20 at 100,000 MT, up over 33 percent or some 25,000 MT greater than the USDA official 2018/19 estimate of 75,000 metric tons. The increase is attributable to five percent rise in imports and an over 26 percent expansion in domestic production.
The project will raise the current production capacity of the refinery to 160,000 barrels per day. The Anubis complex for diesel production in Asyut aims to establish a complex to produce high-quality diesel fuel, with a production capacity of 880,000 metric tons per year, at an investment cost of $2.3 billion.
Egypt's GASC buys 12,000 tonnes of sunflower oil in tender
CAIRO, Egypt's state grains buyer, the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC), said on Thursday it bought 12,000 tonnes of sunflower oil in an international purchase tender for vegetable oils. Traders said the oil was purchased from ADM at $758.00 per tonne.
The Mostorod refinery has a working capacity of 142,000bpd and a design capacity of only 115,000bpd. The refinery is operated by the Cairo Oil Refining Co (CORC), a unit of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corp (EGPC), and first came onstream in 1973. It produces a variety of products, including LPG, gasoline, naphtha, propane and fuel gas.

Middle East Oil Refinery (Midor), considered to be Africa’s most advanced refinery, is being expanded to increase its capacity from the existing 100,000 barrels per day (bpd) / five million tonnes per year to 160,000bpd. The refinery is owned by MIDOR, an Egyptian shareholding company in which Egyptian Oil Company (EGPC) has a 78% interest
The plants are expected to have the capacity to transform 600 tonnes of waste per day into power for local populations. Outlook. Egypt has turned its oil and gas industry around in the years since 2015, when the country became a net importer of natural gas. In doing so, it has created an environment where opportunities abound.
