Degumming, Dewaxing and Deacidification of Rice Bran Oil-Hexane Miscella Using Ceramic Membrane: Pilot Plant Study
An indigenously developed low-cost clay-alumina- based ceramic microfiltration membrane of 19-channel configuration has been evaluated for degumming, dewaxing and deacidification of rice bran oil
Rice bran wax and soap particles in miscella will aggregate with changes in temperature. This suggests a technique for their effective separation. Low-temperature cross-flow membrane filtration was used for single-stage degumming-dewaxing and showed 70 % and 80 % removal of acetone insoluble residue from two RBO miscella samples, respectively.
Degumming, Dewaxing and Deacidification of Rice Bran Oil-Hexane Miscella Using Ceramic Membrane: Pilot Plant Study, Journal of the American Oil
An indigenously developed low-cost clay-alumina-based ceramic microfiltration membrane of 19-channel configuration has been evaluated for degumming, dewaxing and deacidification of rice bran oil (RBO) miscella having different oil contents at pilot scale. Rice bran wax and soap particles in miscella will aggregate with changes in temperature. This suggests a technique for their effective

A novel process for physically refining rice bran oil through simultaneous degumming and dewaxing, Rajam, 2005, Journal of the American Oil
The Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society publishes original research and technological advances on fats, oils, oilseed proteins, and related materials. Abstract A new process for the physical refining of rice bran oil through combined degumming and dewaxing was developed on a laboratory scale and then demonstrated on a commercial scale.
Publisher Summary. Rice bran oil may be the largest underutilized agricultural commodity in the world. The production and processing of rice bran oil are similar to many other vegetable oils. This chapter provides a brief overview of the extraction and refining process of the rice bran oil and focuses on aspects of rice bran oil production

Physical refining of rice bran oil (RBO) with acidity between 4.0 and 12.4% has been investigated in relation to degumming and dewaxing pretretments. It appears that physical refining after combined low-temperature (10°C) degumming-dewaxing produces good-quality RBO with respect to color, free fatty acid, oryzanol, and tocopherol content.
The European Journal of Lipid Science & Technology publishes lipids and oils research encompassing food science, biomedical science, animals, plants & microbes & more. Abstract A combined degumming-dewaxing batch by filtration through a ceramic membrane followed by earth bleaching and physical or alkali refining was studied for crude rice bran oil.
