Step 1: Cleaning. After harvesting groundnut are received at processing facilities. Batches of harvested peanuts will contain whole peanuts in the shell, some shelled peanuts, and foreign objects (e.g., leaves, nodes, weed seed, etc.). Groundnut oil production reached 2,515 tonnes in 2014 in Rwanda, according to Faostat. This is 80.0% more than in the previous year. Historically, groundnut oil production in Rwanda reached an all time high of 5,649 tonnes in 2009 and an all time low of 140 tonnes in 1963.
