Dewaxing systems
Make sure you take into account factors such as feed oil quality, capacity, effluent conditions, desired refined oil quality. For stable refined oils that pass cold tests, you can trust time-tested Alfa Laval wet, dry and combination dewaxing systems. Whatever your dewaxing challenge, you can rely on Alfa Laval for comprehensive and reliable
The steps involved in Sunflower Oil Refining Process: Degumming. Neutralization. Water Washing. Vacuum Drying. Bleaching. De-waxing. Deodorisation. The chemical refining stages of Sunflower oil are also similar to other soft oils except dewaxing which is additional as sunflower oil contains wax which will be removed by dewaxing process.

This gives a hazy appearance to the oil during winter season. The reason for hazy appearance is due to the precipitation of dissolved waxes. The presence of wax makes the oil appear cloudy at room temperature. The oil normally becomes cloudy in 5–6 h but with proper dewaxing the oil remains clear after 24h of storage at 0˚C. Dewaxing is
The conventional dewaxing process is based on the 3 step-deep coo ling process of the. degummed, neutralis ed and bleached oils, usually conducted until the oil reach the waxes. crystallisation
A Modern Dewaxing Technology For Edible Oils Refining
The sunflower oil waxes have usually 36 to 42 atoms of carbon, FFA especially C20-C22 and fatty alcohols especially C24-C26 (Ramos and Rodriguez, 1985); (Mariani and Fedeli, 1989); (Liu et al., 1996).
How the dewaxing process works Wet dewaxing & Dry dewaxing. In most of the cases, it is important to note that wet dewaxing alone removes sufficient amounts of wax to achieve the oil stability required to pass the 24-hour cold test; this is based on average quality sunflower oil with the wax content 600 ppm.
Effect of refining on quality and composition of sunflower oil
Crude pressed sunflower oil obtained from a local oil mill was refined using chemical method by degumming, neutralization, bleaching and dewaxing. The quality and composition of crude and refined oil were compared. The phosphorous content, FFA content, peroxide value and wax content decreased during the refining process.
Systems for dewaxing process of edible oil. Alfa Laval dewaxing systems effectively remove waxes from crude oils through physical refining processes using cold enzymatic degumming or cold chemical refining processes that combine wet dewaxing, such as multi-wax and combi-wax systems, with a dry dewaxing system. This physical refining process

The low solubility of wax in oil at low temperatures, where the oil remains liquid, forms the basis of common dewaxing processes. They cause the wax to crystallize by cooling the oil, and then they remove the crystals. There is a problem, though. The oil viscosity increases considerably when the oil is cooled down.
The physico-chemical parameters of crude sunflower oil, refined oil obtained from the experimental unit and commer-cial refined oil sample is given in Table 1.Theoilsamples were found to be completely moisture free after refining and less than the maximum limit of 0.1 %. The specific gravity of crude and refined oil at 20 °C were found to be same
