According to American Agriculture department data, the total palm oil capacity in Ivory Coast is 390,000t/year, ranks second in Africa palm oil industry; Nigeria ranks first with anual capacity 910,000ton. But all palm oil capacity is far less than Indonesia(28,500,000ton); Malaysia(19,000,000ton); Thailand(2,000,000ton).
Ivory Coast's largest palm oil refinery, SANIA, has entered a deal with a Swedish firm to swap from using fossil fuels to biomass for its energy needs. The change is expected to curb the firm's yearly greenhouse gas emissions by 45,337 tonnes of carbon dioxide, similar to taking just over 8,200 passenger vehicles off the road for a year.
