Indonesia to export crude palm oil to Kenya via Lamu port, The Star
Indonesia is a major supplier of crude palm oil to Kenya. It exported 450 metric tonnes of the commodity last year alone. Thus far, the oil has only been transported via the Mombasa port.

The government has mooted setting up a palm oil factory in the country to improve the incomes of farmers especially at the Coast and secure Kenya’s access to a critical commodity that accounts for the second biggest import bill after petroleum.
Imports In 2022, Kenya imported $1.28B in Palm Oil, becoming the 10th largest importer of Palm Oil in the world. At the same year, Palm Oil was the 2nd most imported product in Kenya. Kenya imports Palm Oil primarily from: Malaysia ($859M), Indonesia ($291M), Cote d'Ivoire ($57M), Singapore ($36.2M), and Thailand ($16.1M).
