Enzyme-assisted water-extraction of oil and protein from rice
Enzymatic water-extraction of oil and proteins from rice bran was studied in a laboratory-scale set-up. The effects of the following enzymes, Celluclast 1.5 L, hemicellulase, Pectinex Ultra SP-L, Viscozyme L, Alcalase 0.6 L and papain, on oil and protein extraction yields, and the level of reducing sugars in the extract were investigated.
Recent data demonstrated that rice bran extracts and fermented rice bran play an important role in attenuating inflammation (Yu et al., 2019). γ-tocotrienol of RBO has potential to reduce pancreatic tumour growth by inhibiting the nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB)-mediated inflammatory micro- environment.
Rice Bran Oil: Emerging Trends in Extraction, Health Benefit
Abstract: Rice bran oil (RBO) is unique among edible vegetable oils because of its unique fatty acid composition, phenolic compound (γ-oryzanol, ferulic acid) and vitamin E (tocopherol and tocotrienol). It has become a great choice of cooking oil because of its very high burning point, neutral taste and delicate flavour.
One option to add value to this agricultural waste is by utilizing the potential phytochemicals in rice bran oil (RBO). Rice bran oil contains vital chemicals with medicinal and nutritional benefits. This paper examines the numerous ways that rice bran oil is extracted, the various phytochemicals that are present, as well as their potential for
Optimization of Oil Extraction from Rice Bran with Mixed
The moisture content of the rice bran was 8.60% 0.05% (w/w), which was determined using the oven drying method at 105 2 C. The oil content and protein content of the rice bran were 20.64% 0.02% and 14.47% 0.02%, determined according to the national standard methods GB 5009.6-2016 and GB 5009.5-2016, respectively.
After rice harvesting, the milling processes generate many by-products including husk, bran, germs, and broken rice representing around 40% of the total grain. Bran, one of the external cereal layers, contains proteins, dietary fibers, minerals, and lipids. One of the most common rice bran utilization is the extraction of rice bran oil (RBO). Among all vegetable oils, RBO presents a unique
Rice bran oil extraction in Sri Lanka: data for ..., EurekaMag
Rice bran oil is widely used in pharmaceutical, food and chemical industries due to its unique properties and high medicinal value. In this study, extraction of rice bran oil from various brands of rice bran available in Sri Lanka was studied and data necessary for extraction, equipment design and process predictions were determined.
The extraction kinetics of rice bran oil (RBO), free fatty acids (FFA), and oryzanol using ethanol (0 and 6.3 mass % of water) at 40°C–70°C were investigated. High extraction temperatures increased the yields of RBO and oryzanol by increasing the diffusivity of the solvent, regardless of its water content.
Conventional and ultrasound-assisted extraction of rice bran
One of the most common rice bran applications is the extraction of rice bran oil, rich in γ-oryzanol, which has shown many health benefits including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-hypercholesterolemic properties. Rice bran oil is usually extracted by organic solvents, which are toxic for health and the environment.
hexane extraction of ohmic heating-stabilized rice bran [7]. Oliveira et al. [22] reported about 42.7-99.9% yield of oil from rice bran using ethanol to rice bran ratio of 2.5:1 and 4.5:1,
