Uganda Secures Partner for the Refinery Project – UNOC
A United Arab Emirates-based company has become the lead partner in Uganda's oil refinery project, a pivotal undertaking for the country. Alpha MBM Investments, led by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, a member of the Dubai Royal Family, was announced as the key partner by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Hon. Uganda to announce oil refinery bid winner next month 10/17/2023 1:35:00 PM (Reuters), Uganda expects to announce the winning bidder among four groups competing for a new 60,000 bpd oil refinery next month, the country's Energy Minister Ruth Nankabirwa told Reuters on Tuesday.
The refinery is expected to start operating two years after Uganda has achieved first oil in 2025. Eight years ago, in July 2016, officials of RT Global Resources, the consortium that had been awarded the first refinery tender returned to Moscow to discuss with their superiors about renewal of the performance bond but never returned.
