Although Cameroon, the largest palm oil producer in Central Africa, produced more than 450,000 tons in 2020, it still imports about 60,000 tons a year to meet its domestic demand. Most of the imported palm oil comes from Indonesia, Malaysia and Gabon.
Cameroon’s second and sixth largest exports are cocoa beans ($647 million) and bananas ($266 million), respectively. The country also produces coffee, cotton, rubber, and corn. The Cameroonian government has expressed the desire to both increase production in all six crops and move further up the value chain.
