Design And Fabrication Of A Groundnut Oil Expelling Machine
The main objective is to design and fabricate of an improved, durable groundnut oil expeller, using local sourced materials. Other specific objectives are: To develop a machine that can extract oil from groundnut, within a minimum time frame. To design, develop and test expeller that is affordable to small scale oil millers. 2.
On the other hand, the promotion of groundnut is considered in the context of diversifying oil crops in the country. According to Kelly and Murekezi ( 2000 ), a strong program of fertilizer promotion for climbing bean and soybean (in combination with inoculation) will result in profitable outcomes for farmers in some agroecological zones in Rwanda.
Groundnut Oil Manufacturing Process With Flowchart
Step 1: Cleaning. After harvesting groundnut are received at processing facilities. Batches of harvested peanuts will contain whole peanuts in the shell, some shelled peanuts, and foreign objects (e.g., leaves, nodes, weed seed, etc.). The peanuts are then cleaned using cleaning machine so that oil is not contaminated with foreign materials.
Groundnut oil production reached 2,515 tonnes in 2014 in Rwanda, according to Faostat. This is 80.0% more than in the previous year. Historically, groundnut oil production in Rwanda reached an all time high of 5,649 tonnes in 2009 and an all time low of 140 tonnes in 1963.
An Overview of Groundnut Oil Extraction Technologies
Traditionally, groundnut oil extraction involves shelling the groundnut pods, roasting the shelled groundnut seeds, de-skinning/winnowing the roasted groundnut seeds, milling the cleaned groundnut seeds and kneading the paste produced. Among the different method of oil extraction (traditional, mechanical, chemical and mechano-chemical methods
Groundnut oil extraction involves removing oil content of the groundnut seed. Study conducted in Northern Nigeria revealed that 75% of the rural women engaged in groundnut
Design And Fabrication Of A Groundnut Oil Expelling Machine
The need to produce a groundnut oil expelling machine arose even in the distant past due to the need to produce oil for domestic and commercial uses. According to history, one of the major forces driving scholars into research is the desire to produce machineries that will be used for the production of food for man and animal. (Bachman, 2001)
The machine was tested three times to obtain the shelling efficiency, cleaning efficiency and material efficiency which were 97.94%, 56.2% and 90.13% respectively. The shelling capacity

Farmers are back bone for every country in the world. Without farmer’s livelihood is difficult. Groundnuts is grown on a small scale by farmer. The major problem in groundnut production in country like Rwanda is the lack of groundnut processing machines available to farmers. In the beginning the peanuts were separated from its shells by the
