To ensure we continue on the right track and to accelerate the progress towards 100 percent TTP and VDF by 2025, we work closely with multiple stakeholders in the palm oil supply chain for transformative change.
East Africa’s Reliance on Palm oil
Demand for Malaysian Palm Oil (MPO) has been particularly strong in east Africa, which absorbed 1.3 million tonnes in 2021 – an increase of 11% compared to 2020 (Figure 1). Palm oil is mainly used in Fast-Moving Consumer Goods applications, such as cooking oil, baking fats and food products. Kenya is a net importer of oils and fats.
The Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) is dedicated to positioning Malaysia as the global leader in certified sustainable palm oil. MPOC prioritises the promotion of Malaysian palm oil as a healthy, sustainable, and ethical choice for consumers worldwide, by actively engaging with stakeholders, while improving market access and acceptance of the MSPO certification.
