Castor Oil Manufacturing Process, Oil Expeller
Here are the basic steps to extract the castor oil. Step 1: Castor Seed Dehulling. Step 2: Castor Seed Cleaning. Step 3: Castor Seed Cooking. Step 4: Castor Seed Pressing. Step 5: Castor Oil Clarification. Step 1: Castor Seed Dehulling. Castor seed contains about 30%–35% oil. The extraction process begins with the removal of the hull from the
As with most oilseeds, the castor oil production process begins with dehulling and cleaning the beans to remove shells, stems, and other foreign materials. Oil processors then heat batches of dehulled castor beans in steam-jacketed cookers or forced hot air vessels to remove moisture and harden the seeds for more effective mechanical pressing.
Castor Seed Oil Mill Plant, Oil Expeller
GOYUM is a leading manufacturer of Castor Seed Oil Mill Machinery. We are experienced in turnkey Castor Seed Oil Extraction Plants. Our machines are working successfully in over 55 countries. Major Castor Seed producing countries are Brazil, India and Argentina. Other countries growing Castor include Indonesia, Indo-China, Madagascar, Angola
Castor oil seed contains about 30%–50% oil (m/m). 74, 75 Castor oil can be extracted from castor beans by either mechanical pressing, solvent extraction, or a combination of pressing and extraction. 74 After harvesting, the seeds are allowed to dry so that the seed hull will split open, releasing the seed inside. The extraction process begins
Optimization of Process Parameters for Castor Oil Production
Abstract—Bean conditions, processing temperature and pressing time, solvent type and solvent-solid ratio were studied to optimize oil yield from castor beans. A maximum yield of 50.16% was obtained in this study. Moisture content of 3-3.6% was found compared to the range of 5-7% reported in literature.
H. Janson. Engineering. 1974. 4. This paper carried out experimental study, through extraction and characterization of both crude and refined castor oil. Normal hexane was used as solvent for the extraction process. The oil produced was refined through degumming, neutralization and bleaching process using local adsorbent (activated clay).

Oil extraction is one of the most critical steps in seed oil processing because it determines the quality and quantity of oil extracted. Optimization of the extraction conditions for each extraction method enhances yield and quality meanwhile a carefully chosen optimization process equally has the potential of saving time and heat requirements
property of both the castor seed and it chaff, 5.48 m/s was determined as average terminal velocity of the seed, then; The air flow rate (q) is as shown; assuming 70% blower
Bioactive Phytochemicals from Castor ( Ricinus communis
Seeds are commonly used for the extraction of oil, thus, a large number of by-products are obtained from them. The major by-products originating from castor (Ricinus communis Linneo) seed oil processing are oil cake and plant residues such as husks, leaves, roots, and stems, after seeds have been harvested and processed. Phytochemicals
Riccinus communis (castor) seed cake is a by-product generated after oil extraction from the seed. This deoiled seed cake contains a toxic protein ricin that restricts its application in livestock
