Twin-screw extrusion technology for vegetable oil extraction: A review

In the last decades, research study into food extrusion technology and agro-food industry has been widely investigated (Zardetto and Rosa 2009; Sobowale et al. 2017).According to Berk (), extrusion is derived from the Latin word “extrudere” which literarily means the action of pushing out.
Conclusions. Twin-screw extrusion technology exhibits promising perspectives in the field of vegetable oil extraction, especially when integrating several extraction stages in a single extruder passage. However, extensive additional research is crucial in order to further develop these processes and assess their industrial feasibility.
