Jatropha seeds contain 40–60% of oil depending on the variety [ 18, 84 ]. The first step of oil extraction is the removal of shells from the seeds after collecting the ripe fruits from trees. Seed oil can be extracted manually, mechanically, chemically and enzymatically. The oil extraction process is shown in Figure 4.

Indeni Petroleum Refinery, Wikipedia
The Indeni Refinery is configured as a Hydro-skimming refinery. Designed in 1973, the refinery is not able to refine pure crude at commercial levels and processes spiked crude. [5] The refinery is able to produce the following products: [4] (a) unleaded petrol (b) automotive gas oil (c) industrial kerosene (d) domestic kerosene (e) Jet fuel (f

This article looks at the national and global actors, social networks, and narratives that have influenced Jatropha’s worldwide acceptability as a biofuel crop. Jatropha Curcas is a genus of around 175 succulent shrubs and trees in the Euphorbiaceae family (some of which are deciduous, such as Jatropha Curcas L.). It’s a drought-tolerant perennial that thrives in poor or marginal soil
Over the years, INDENI has acquired massive experience and expertise both in crude oil refining, bulk storage of petroleum products and bulk depot management. Between 2000 and 2005, INDENI had the management agency to run the Zambia National Oil Company fuel terminal which is currently operated by TAZAMA Petroleum Products Limited as Ndola Fuel Terminal (NFT).
Techno-economic analysis of a bio-refinery process for producing Hydro
The oil yield in the jatropha seed is around 30–40% [20]. Based on the literatures, 33% of oil yield is assumed in this study. The press cake, the residue after oil extraction, is delivered to Pyrolysis section. The crude jatropha oil leaving the expeller contains 5–15% impurities by weight [20].
Non-food oils, such as Jatropha, waste cooking oil, and by-products of vegetable oil from refineries provide inexpensive feedstock for biodiesel manufacturing. Due to its increased oil yield, adequate fatty acid content, tolerance to various agro-climatic conditions, and short gestation period, Jatropha may be one of the most promoted oilseed crops worldwide.
