New perspectives on different Sacha inchi seed oil
Sacha inchi oil extracted using Soxhlet extraction with different solvents results in a higher oil yield, but it also requires a higher boiling point temperature, which can affect the composition of the extracted oil (Jitpinit et al. Citation 2022). The yield of Sacha inchi oil can be increased by modifying the extraction method variables.
In recent years, sacha inchi (Plukenetia volubilis L.) has attracted interest as they contain oil rich in unsaturated fatty acids. This review describes the extraction techniques (soxhlet, cold pressing, enzymatic, and supercritical fluid extractions) of sacha inchi seed oil (SISO) and the analysis of its composition in terms of nutritional content, physicochemical properties, phytosterols
Hydraulic Cold-Pressed Extraction of Sacha Inchi Seeds: Oil
Sacha inchi oil (SIO) extraction has been extensively studied using various oil extraction techniques to achieve a high oil recovery. However, most studies relied on heat-based methods, which led
In this investigation, the residue from the oil extraction from the Sacha Inchi seed was used, this dried cake was subjected to several treatments (dehydration, grinding and sieving) to obtain ine
EFFECT OF DIFFERENT EXTRACTION TECHNIQUES ON YIELD
The recommended oil extraction conditions were 8 min of extraction time at temperature of 25 °C, solvent-to-solids ratio of 5/1 (v/w) and particle size of 0.38 mm, which gave oil yield of 20.32%
Here, a single screw press machine at different press head temperatures was used to extract oil from Sacha inchi seeds. The various Sacha inchi oil extracts had differences in their fatty acid levels. Additionally, the Sacha inchi oil was found to contain total phenolic compounds, which can be potentially used as an alternative source of
Hydraulic Cold-Pressed Extraction of Sacha Inchi Seeds: Oil
Sacha inchi oil (SIO) extraction has been extensively studied using various oil extraction techniques to achieve a high oil recovery. However, most studies relied on heat-based methods, which led to compromised oil quality and reduced nutritional values, particularly polyunsaturated fatty acids (omega-3 and omega-6), vitamin E, and phenolic compounds. To address these concerns, this study
2.2 Extraction of the Oil. Sacha inchi oil is usually cold pressed. Another possibility is extraction with solvents or supercritical carbon dioxide. Pressing is preferable because it is an environment-friendly method and results in high-quality oil. When the oil is extracted with solvents, the most commonly used is hexane, which is toxic.
Cold-Pressed Sacha Inchi Oil: High in Omega-3 and Prevents
The fruit of Sacha inchi was harvested at 5–6 months. The Sacha inchi brown fruits (3 months) were peeled. Next, the Sacha inchi seeds without peel were dried at 120 °C for 10 min, and SIO was extracted using the cold press method in 2021. The EVOO is extra virgin olive oil that was purchased from the supermarket produced in Spain.
Despite low oil yield by subcritical fluid extraction, the samples displayed slightly higher ALA content (∼44.3%) than SE-oil (∼42.5%). More recently, Nguyen et al. (2020) investigated the effect of several proteases and cellulase for the extraction of SI oil and reported 20.90–24.67% oil content, again lower than obtained by SE (29.77%).
