The Trucent Laboratory provides complete analytical and performance testing for all industrial fluids (e.g., oil, lubes, coolants for numerous applications, etc.), as well as petroleum- and biological-based oil extraction development (i.e., corn oil extraction in ethanol production plants). Not only can we help you determine where problems have
3 Common Contaminants and the Oil Analysis Tests That Can
Lost revenue due to equipment downtime is often a direct result of some type of contamination, whether from dirt, water, an incorrect lubricant or a combination of these. Oil analysis testing can identify these contaminants, but unless you are aware of the issues that can arise from them, it can be difficult to take the appropriate actions.
run-in, testing rust prevention. Flushing with regular lube oil not required. Drain when needed. Flushing is required only where drainage is poor, or where the rust preventive material must be completely removed such as in air compressors or steam turbines. 3, 6 Mobilarma™ 778 778 Long-term protection of cold-rolled sheet stock,
Understanding Varnish | Chevron Lubricants (US)
Varnish is triggered in various ways. In general, the cycle of varnish starts with something that upsets the stability of the lubricant, usually a thermal event such as excessive heat. This causes the oil to start degrading and impurities to start forming. For a long time, those impurities stay dissolved in the oil and don’t cause any harm.
A sample of the lubricant is mixed with water and placed in a heated bath. A polished steel rod is submerged in the oil / water mixture for a predetermined length of time, typically 4 hours. The test rod is then inspected for signs of rust. This test is run in duplicate, and to be considered passing both test rods must be free of rust. ASTM
How to Select the Right Oil Analysis ..., Machinery Lubrication
Among the tests usually conducted include: Oil viscosity and lubricity. Oxidation stability. Acidity and/or alkalinity. Pour, flash and fire point. Soluble and insoluble contaminants. Air release and foaming characteristics. Anti-corrosion and anti-rust characteristics. Anti-wear and extreme-pressure characteristics.
Preservative Treatments to Control Corrosion. To secure the reliability of critical company assets, parts and equipment must be protected from corrosion. During machine operation, oil is circulated or splashed to ensure additives are well dispersed throughout internal system surfaces. The movement of the fluid allows for proper protection, but
Turbine Oil Analysis, Premium Testing | MRT Laboratories
Depth of Analysis, If Routine Oil Analysis is the 'check-up', Premium Testing is the in-depth 'MRI Scan', allowing you to pinpoint fundamental properties of your fluid and equipment. Wide Range of Diagnostics, MRT's suite of testing lets their customers test everything from fluid oxidation, to antioxidant health, to foaming tendency, and more
The Turbine Lubricant Assessment is the centerpiece of Bureau Veritas’ VitalPoint turbine oil analysis program. The TLA combines the entire condition monitoring test suite outlined in ASTM’s D4278 and incorporates new tests designed to measure oxidation stability, anti-oxidant remaining useful life and varnish potential.
