Extraction of sunflower oil using ethanol as solvent
The extraction mixture consisted of approximately 10.0 ± 0.1 g of sunflower collets and 180 mL of ethanol (95%, bp 78 °C), corresponding to a collet-to-solvent ratio of 1:18 (g/mL). The agitation rate was kept constant in all experiments, being sufficient to maintain a well-mixed fluid and the particles in suspension.
In this paper, natural sunflower seed oil was used as the raw material to extract mixed fatty acids with potassium hydroxide-methyl alcohol solution, and then benzene and methanol were added for
Sunflower oil from enzymatic aqueous extraction process: Maximization of free oil yield and oil characterization, Aquino, 2019, Journal of Food
In this article, the enzymatic aqueous extraction (EAE) of sunflower seed oil was investigated. The effects of the operational variables (temperature, water seed mass ratio, and enzyme concentration) were evaluated in order to define the conditions that maximize the free oil yield (FOY).
The kinetics and mechanism of the extraction process investigated. It is. shown that the process of extracting sunflower seed oil is complicated and include as intra-diffusion. and outer-diffusion
Green extraction of lutein from marigold flower petals, process optimization and its potential to improve the oxidative stability of sunflower oil
Experimental design.Box–Behnken design (BBD) was implemented to check the influence of various independent factors like ultrasonic intensity (50–90 W/m 2), extraction time (5–20 min), and solid to solvent ratio (1.5–30% w/v) on the amount of lutein extracted from marigold petals and its antioxidant activity; and optimize the process parameters for lutein extraction.
In this study we evaluate the chemical composition of sunflower oils obtained separately by pressing and subsequent solvent extraction from a new seeds rich in phytosterols (IASP-18) and conventional seeds (HA-89). Results have shown that the total content of oil was much lower in the IASP-18 (18.1%) than in the conventional (37.5%) seeds.
Sunflower Seed Preparation and Oil Extraction
Sunflower is crushed for oil recovery via one of two process methods, hard pressing or prepress solvent extraction. Hard pressing relies upon exerting high pressure on the prepared seed to separate oil from the solids fraction, historically recovering about 25% oil from the seed. Prepress solvent extraction relies on exerting medium pressure on
et al. (2019) used Celluclast®1.5 L enzyme and obtained 17.76% ± 0.46 of sunflower free oil in the enzymatic extraction. The authors used a temperature of 60 °C, seed-to-water mass ratio of 1:5

2017. TLDR. Alcoholic solvents can be used for extraction to produce sunflower seed oil containing minor compounds that give it greater oxidative stability, and the results obtained using hydrous ethanol showed that this solvent can yield defattedSunflower seed meal with a low content of CAs, enabling future use of the protein fraction.
