Full press itself indicating that the seed is totally pressed to drain out maximum oil. The mustard is very tiny seed and contains 38 to 45% of oil. Due to its nature its difficult to extract the complete oil in single stage. The seed is cleaned, destoned, separated the magnetic particles and cooked then allow to the screw press 1st stage.
The results obtained for mustard seeds oil after n-hexane extraction were lower than these presented in works by Sengupta and Bhattacharyya (1996) or Lohani, Fallahi, and Muthukumarappan (2015). They reported the following values of mustard oil extraction yield: 35.10 and 28.80%.

The yield also depends upon the machinery used for extraction. The expellers yield 34-38% oil, rotary mills 33-35% and ghanis 30-32%. The average yield of oil in rapeseed and mustard is 33.3 per cent. The oil left in the cake obtained from the ghanis is 11-16% from the rotary mills 9-11% and from the expellers 7-8%.
