How is linseed oil made?
The plant makes hardly any demands on the soil, but it is susceptible to wet conditions. Linseed oil for pharmaceutical uses is cold pressed from the ripe, crushed seeds (Hager 1993, p. 673). This is carried out using a screw compressor; the seeds are pushed through a pressing cylinder at low pressure and a maximum temperature of 40 °C.
