This has in part caused the national OER in Malaysia to remain stagnant over the years. It has been estimated that the milling efficiency of a well-managed mill is approximately 90%.

This unprecedented data set consists of 782 palm oil mills, spread across 15 countries. As anticipated, the vast majority of these mills are found in Malaysia (50 percent) and Indonesia (44 percent).
