TOCOPHEROL CONTENT OF ALMOND OILS PRODUCED IN EASTERN MOROCCO
Almond is the most important tree nut crop in Morocco in terms of acreage and production value. Almond plantations cover a total area of 151,000 ha with an estimated average annual production of
Little is known about kernel oil from the commercially grown almond cultivars in Morocco obtained by press extraction. This work was set up to evaluate effects of different environments on almond oil content (OC) and related quality traits, namely polyphenols (PP), saturated (SFA), monounsaturated (MUFA), polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), and oleic/linoleic (O/L) ratio.
Characterization of almond kernel oils of five almonds varieties cultivated in Eastern Morocco
Abstract. This study focuses on characterization of almond kernel oils extracted mechanically from five sweet almond varieties: ‘Marcona’, ‘Fournat’, ‘Ferragnes’, ‘Ferraduel’
Sweet Almond oil (AO) extraction by pressing (screw press) becomes the best option to achieve high oils quality at an affordable price. To determine tocopherols profiles as a quality parameter of almond oils produced in eastern Morocco, AO of five main varieties grown in this region (Fournat, Marcona, Ferragnes/Ferraduel
Chemical characterization of local “Beldi” almond oil for food and cosmetic purposes in northeastern of Morocco, Academia.edu
Currently, Morocco is the sixth-largest producer of almond nutsin the world, with an average production of 102.185 tons in 2019[2].In marginal areas, in addition to the varieties of almonds commonly cultivated, the Beldi almond trees represent a set of local almond
The principal fatty acid of almond kernel oils is oleic acid (C18:1); oils of ‘Ferragnes-Ferraduel’ and ‘Beldi’ varieties show higher values of C18:1 respectively of 72.87 and 71.62%, however ‘Fournat’ almond kernel oil shows the lowest content of C18:1 (63.54%).
Almond oil: A comprehensive review of chemical composition, extraction methods, preservation conditions, potential health benefits, and safety
Some variations in almond oil composition can be found depending on the kernel's origin and the extraction system used. Some new technologies such as ultrasonic-assisted extraction, supercritical fluid extraction, subcritical fluid extraction, and salt-assisted aqueous extraction have emerged as the most promising extraction techniques that allow eco-friendly and effective recovery of almond oil.

This study focuses on characterization of almond kernel oils extracted mechanically from five sweet almond varieties: ‘Marcona’, ‘Fournat’, ‘Ferragnes’, ‘Ferraduel’ and ‘Beldi’), cultivated in eastern Morocco. Oil content, physicochemical parameters, triacylglycerol and fatty acid compositions were determined.
The concentration of the different tocopherol homologues in almond kernel oil was determined in 17 almond cultivars grown in two different experimental orchards, in Spain and Morocco. The three main homologues showed a large variability, ranging from 210.9 to 553.4 mg/kg of oil for α-tocopherol, from 4.64 to 14.92 mg/kg for γ-tocopherol, and from 0.2 to 1.02 mg/kg for δ-tocopherol.
