Sovena Group invests US$20M in Angola soybean oil processing
The demand for soybean oil in Angola is also on the rise. In 2021, consumption is estimated at 86 thousand metric tons, a 1% year-on-year increase from 2020. Angola however relies on imports to meet demand. In 2021, the country imported 282,000 metric tons of soybean oil, valued at US$180 million.
Abstract. A minimal residual oil content in the meal coming out of the hexane extractor is a clear benefit for a crushing plant; the more oil yield the better revenue for the crusher. In a modern and efficient extraction plant, a residual oil content ≤ 0.5% for soybean meal is expected.
Recent advances in green soybean oil extraction: A review
The extraction of soybean oil and free fatty acids was evaluated using ethanol with different hydration levels (from anhydrous to 5.98 wt%) by Toda et al. [29]. It was found that the increase in water content suppresses soybean oil extraction and increases the free fatty acids content.
Despite the fact that soybean oil extraction with hexane is more efficient, in terms of a more concentrated miscella, the outcomes obtained in this study revealed that is possible to exhaust the raw material with ethanol, and that a high oil recovery value can be reached when a S/F = 3/1 is employed. Although the extract obtained with ethanol

Soybeans are the dominant oilseed in both U.S. and world markets. During a typical year soybean production comprises over half the worldwide oilseed production ( Anonymous 1995 ). However, according to Dutton (1981) in the early 1940s, soybean oil was considered a poor quality oil, not suitable for food use, and more appropriate for use in
Soybean oil is widely used as cooking oil, whereas the soybean cake is a valuable ingredient for animal food. The extraction of soybean oil is an energy-intensive process, with additional significant impact on the environment via the wastewater and hexane emissions. The research investigated different ways to minimize the energy consumption.
Edible Oil Production in Egypt: An Overview
4.1. Extraction of crude oil from oilseed The extraction of crude oil may be carried mechanically using screw press or hydraulic press or by direct solvent extraction using commercial hexane or using both technologies in what is called pre-press solvent extraction. Residual oil in extracted meal is lowest in case of direct solvent extraction
Soybean oil extraction at the boiling point of p-cymene gave a yield of 31.63 1.50 g/g DM compared to 24.28 1.11 g/g DM for n-hexane. The extraction yield for n-hexane is in line with the
EVALUATION OF PROCESS PARAMETERS IN THE INDUSTRIAL SCALE
evaluation of process parameters in the industrial scale process of soybean oil extraction using experimental design methodology EUNICE VALDUGA Department of Food Engineering, URI – Campus de Erechim, Av. Sete de Setembro 1621 Erechim – RS, 99700‐000, Brazil
This work reports the use of experimental design for the assessment of the effects of process parameters of the soybean oil extraction in an industrial environment. A central composite rotatable design was carried out and the independent variables were soyflakes (27 to 41 mm), miscella concentration (25 to 39%) and solvent temperature (57 to 63C).
