The oilcake leaves the extraction machine through an adjustable cone and is then delivered to the second pressing. Because of their high oil content, Palm kernels have to be subjected to 2 stage pressing for maximum oil yield. The residue from First Stage Press is then transferred to a second palm kernel oil expeller machine for final crushing.

Zampalm Plantation is Zambia’s first ever commercial oil palm plantation. The Plantation is in Kanchibiya district, Muchinga province. Zampalm owns 20,238 hectares of titled land. A total of 3,864 hectares is under oil palm cultivation. Further, there is 1,100 hectares under out-grower scheme managed by Oil Palm Out-Growers Company (OPOC).

Strict quality control right from fruit processing to kernel extraction is necessary to ensure production of good quality oil and by-products. Malaysian palm kernel oil has proven to be of consistent quality, with narrow ranges in chemical characteristics. The palm kernel cake and pellets are important ingredients for animal feed.
